Hello, I'm Annie!
I'm an illustrator and pattern designer, specialising in the children’s market and heritage sector.
The story so far...
Back in 2010 I started stitching for my newborn son as I was not happy with the lack of skulls on baby clothes and soon discovered the joys of machine embroidery.
I stitched up baby clothes with a rockin' twist and this quickly grew into my home based embroidery business Scavenger Annie, winning numerous awards including Theo Paphitis’ Small Business Sunday, Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade 100: Top 100 Crafters on Twitter and the Intuit Small Business Award. Alongside the embroidery I ran numerous sewing workshops around the north west of England, eventually setting up a craft studio in Warrington town centre in 2015 where I taught sewing and craft lessons to all ages, as well as facilitating other creatives to teach their skills.
During my career as a museum presenter I developed and performed numerous costumed characters, demonstrated industrial textile machinery, created site tours and produced craft workshops for all ages. Illustration work during this time included family trails in collaboration with CBBC, historic maps of Ancoats and the world's first passenger railway, wall murals for a children's science zone and activity packs for the public and school groups.
Fast forward to present day...
My passion for story telling and creativity has led me further into the wonderful world of illustration. I love to use watercolours, ink pens and digital techniques to create my patterns and illustrations. I'm inspired by my love for children’s clothing with a rockin’ twist, historic tales, roller skating, tattoo style art and science fiction.
I also actively help creatives to push the boundaries when it comes to social media, encouraging them to inject creativity into their marketing in order to create an authentic story for their followers. Through online classes I offer self paced social media coaching including a series on "Social Media for Creatives".
