Hello, I'm Annie!

I'm an illustrator, textile artist & social media coach, committed to helping you tell your authentic & unique story so that you can shape your business into something that expresses your creative world.

The story so far...

Back in 2010 I started stitching for my newborn son as I was not happy with the lack of skulls on baby clothes & soon discovered the joys of machine embroidery.

I stitched up baby clothes with a rocking' twist & this quickly grew into my home based embroidery business Scavenger Annie. After running numerous sewing workshops around the north west I set up a craft studio in Warrington town centre in 2015 where I taught sewing & craft lessons to all ages, as well as facilitating other creatives to teach their skills.

Fast forward to 2018...

I am back in the creative saddle as an illustrator, designer & social media strategist. I love to use watercolours, ink pens & digital techniques to create my illustrations. I'm inspired by my hobby of roller skating, tattoos & science fiction.

With a BA (Hons) in Archaeology & Ancient History I tend to geek out over anything to do with history & cultures, myths & legends. After my undergrad degree I undertook an MA in Museum & Heritage Exhibition Design, which included collaborating on a video game concept for the historic Ordsall Hall in Salford & researching various forms of communication within museum settings through exhibition design.

During my career as a museum presenter I developed costumed characters, demonstrated industrial textile machinery, created site tours & produced craft workshops for all ages. Illustration work during this time included family trails in collaboration with CBBC, historic maps of Ancoats & the world's first passenger railway, wall murals for a children's science zone & activity packs for the public & school groups.

I'm also passionate about helping creatives to push the boundaries when it comes to social media, encouraging them to inject creativity into their marketing in order to create an authentic story for their followers. Through online classes I offer self paced social media coaching including a series on "Social Media for Creatives".

Please contact me or email direct at northernbirddesigns@hotmail.com if you would like to chat about collaborations, commissions or even your favourite sci-fi show (it's Star Trek & Stargate for me!).
